MJML Honors Child Abuse Awareness Month ~ April 2022!

Each April, the MJML brings light to Child Abuse Awareness. With the help of the McKean County Child Advocacy Center, we hope to not only help prevent victims but also provide guidance and assistance to those in need. All referrals to the Center are made by the District Attorney’s Office, Law Enforcement, and/or Child Protective Services. Once a report of child abuse is made, a referral will be made to the Center. To report suspected child abuse, contact the PA Child Abuse Hotline at: 1-800-932-0313. Available 24 hours a day.

Karen Sees, a native of Mount Jewett and a resident of Hamlin Township, and Samila Sosic, a well-known Bradford artist who is an art professor at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford, have completed painting the mural on the west side of the Mount Jewett Memorial Library. The open books are their signature piece, similar to an open art book with a painting by Karen and a painting by Samila. The Mount Jewett Memorial Library received state arts funding support through a grant from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, a state agency funded by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency. |
